uh what exactly are you asking, some line output converters need power for internal switching / optical signal isolation, some dont.. DOES your LOC have a power requirement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

^^ I think he means for the amp. Not the LOC. I've wondered this too. I usually wire mine to switched power.

you can use the ACC wire in the ign harness under the dash, or a switched wire at the factory radio.

You dont have a voltmeter? you could easily find a switched hot terminal on your fuse block in about 30 seconds with one.

so pretty much i could tap into any wire thats getting 12v when the key is turned. Would the cigarette lighter work for this.

Is the lighter plug for the vehicle in question hot all the time or does the key have to be turned for it to work?

Get out there with a DMM and work it out, friend. It isn't quantum physics!

i dont know its not my car i know in mine its on all the time but some cars its only when the keys turned

Most Fords have them hot all the time. Most GMs, excepting more recent models, don't.

Most foreign cars don't in my experience.

Just find a fuse in the fusebox that is only hot when the key is on and jack into it.
