Remote wire fried???

Hey so I need some help. Today I was coming from dinner and with no amp hooked up but the stock one, all of a sudden music cut out, then back on, then out again a few times. Then I heard a couple sizzle sounds(on the freeway too) but when i got home discovered no problem in electrical.

But using a DMM, my remote out from the stock bmw headunit reads 1.08v when it should be around 12v right? I thought at first the stock amp burned out till I used the 12v power to turn the stock amp on.

Is my remote wire fried? What could cause that?(even though sub amp hasn't been hooked up in a few days?)

Thank you very much:crap:

Only the Rockford amp was spliced into it, but it hasn't been hooked up for a few days, the radio's been working fine since, then tonight...just //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

having the same probelm too, i have two amps hooked up splice into 1 remote wire, today when i woult turn the car on, the amp would cut off and turn back on while my mono block just stays off. the comps amp are on but dunno why the mono isnt.

remote output is usually only about 1/2 amp@12v,i always use a small fuse inline at the radio so if the remote wire gets shorted to ground it keeps the remote output in the radio protected

Hmm a fuse would of been a good idea, but yeah it's blown. I just ended up pickin up a LOC form a friend which only needed the 1.08v signal from the remote lead(yay!) and so I'm using the remote turn on in the LOC...so sad:rolleyes:

But now I have no FM reception cuz of the new LOC, awesome:mad:
