Remote wire can be any wire??? as long as same size gauge?

well i think i lost my remote wire so my question is can i use another wire for my remote wire as long as its the same size i mean there isnt nothing special about the remote wires is there? also what size gauge is the remote wire?

i use 18 gauge and its fine.

Well…., it's cheaper. Generally, they are the same as the speaker connectors in the lineup. No sense in procuring a different size when you already have the speakers size connectors.
