Remote turn on wire is gone... alternatives?

Alright, I'm sure someone is going to flame me about this, but I'm having some troubles.

I installed a Pioneer 6000UB and Rockford P300-1 and a 10" rockford Sub in my Saturn SC2.

My problem is this: My deck does not have a remote turn on wire coming from its harness, and yes, I looked, it is not there. A friend suggested I simply run a wire from my battery to my amp and install a switch somewhere in between and turn off the amp manually all the time. After looking through the manual for my deck, it says the power on the remote turn on lead should not exceed 300mA 12VDC.

I am fairly new to the car audio scene, but Im thinking I should probably have some sort of relay or transister somewhere in the mix to limit the power coming from my battery?

If anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated.

your friend is right.

i have a switch between my batt and amp so i can turn it on anytime.

i like havin it.

my deck also didnt have a remote.

i'd just tap off another accessory in the car like the cigarette lighter, ignition, power windows, etc...

hook it up to the acc wire that way it will turn off when the car is off. Just in case you forget to switch it off it is then automatic.

OKay, so I won't need anything to limit the power coming from the battery? Just a simple switch will do? How would I go about taping power from on of my accesories?

tap into ur cigarette lighter or any other wire that has power when the car is on, and no power when the car is off. no need for a switch.

sooner or later if you go the battery route, you will forget to shut off the amp and kill your batts.

just run it off of an accessory wire like stated before your cigarette lighter. of you can find the wire coming off you h/u that is the "turn on" wire not the 12v constant and tap into that.

No. it will only draw as much as it needs.

Wire it to the red wire on your aftermarket HU harness. This is the ignition wire, and it functions the same as the remote wire... your amp will turn on/off with the vehicle.
