Remote turn on stays on...

I have a few questions... I have a sub and amp that i hooked up using the wire that was ran for a sub that was mounted on the dash of my car(stock). //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif I used a low level converter to hook up the rcas and there is a wire back there that has power and works for a remote but i guess it doesnt turn off when the head unit turns off so it drains my battery if i forget to unplug it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

my main question is pretty much - What is the easiest way to run a remote so that my amp will turn off when i turn my car off?

I am using my stock head unit and i would probably have to get a guy from ultimate electronics or car toys to take that out of the dash for me cause i dont have the key.

could i splice a positive to use for a remote or not?

you could wire the remote to the ignition wire/accessory wire of your car.

thats how i have mine cuz the remote on my cd player doesnt work anymore, and i dont think you would need a key, but ive never work with any stock HUs

you could put a switch inline of the wire. Thats what i did no less then a minute ago.

Take a DMM to the stock harness and find a key-on power source to tap into.

i like the switch idea seems easy enough. but if u can find a ignition wire do that.

the only thing with that switch is remembering to turn it off... cause the first time u forget u have a dead battery

i would go with the fuse panel since it doesn't require cutting any factory wires.

yeah tap into the fuse panel do not use the acc/power of ur raido for ur amp turn-on. Get ur owner manual out and look for the sources that come on when the car is on, and turn off when the car is off.

use the ignition fuse or if you have an aftermarket radio, crimp the wire to the remote wire. Thats what i did, works like charm.

i use a switch , i love it, you get in the habit of doing that , plus if you want it off while driving all you have to do is switch it off

or he could tap in the fuse box... AND mount a switch... and just curious... why not use the acc radio fuse?
