Remote Starter on a manual ******

Out of the game too long!
Alright, this will be the third remote start I have done, but this is on my own car, which is a manual ******. I know it can be done, and I have been in two vehicles that have it, so anyone saying it can't be done (or is illegal) please do not post. If you have a link to instructions, that would be great.

Also, does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 with manual ******? If yes, please email to bertkatie@hotmail.com Thanks in advance

Thanks guys. I just bought a crimestopper unit from Light AV, who I normally deal with. It is just a basic remote start, but he has the directions for the particular unit on a manual. It doesn't have to be nice, just has to start the car this winter. Plus, it was only $69 shipped brand new with warranty!

only thing i could think of is that your supposed to put the ***** in 1st when parked.. so it wont roll in case the ebrake dont work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

why would it be illegal?
scenario:

leave the car in first with the e-brake off, the next morning you start the car from inside your house, you have no idea there is a small child playing in front of your car, the car goes forwards and smushes the kid, bad stuff happens... so on and so forth...

heard it actually happened and thats the real reason why it was illegal.

actually the funny thing is on the focus... and easy way to start it would be to reach above the clutch... and unplug the link cable... one plug goes into the clutch switch... and it's about 5 inches long... and unplug the other end... then you can remote start it or crank it without having to push in the clutch.... or you could use a relay... **not totally sure if this is correct but i'ma give it a try**... since the 2 wires are always connected.. when the clutch presses in the wires are seperated through the switch... so you could use a relay and wire it as so....

pin 85... negative when running from alarm

pin 86... 12 volts

pin 87a... cut a wire in the clutch switch put one side to 87a

pin 30... and the other side to 30

i THINK that's correct... i JUST woke up tho so who knows...

it also wouldnt be that hard to put a sensor on the gear box that wouldnt let the thing fire up if it was in any gear.. but the whole relying on just your e-brake while ur away for 10+ hrs is very scetchy.. lol but my gurl does that anyways just so when shes all spaced out an starts her car in the morning, it doesnt jump when she forgets its in gear...

Good stuff Slody. Thank you. I didn't realize the clutch link cable is so easily disconnected. Theoretically, if I did that, it would be just like installing an automatic ****** remote start. Thanks!

Wrong, most manual transmission remote car starters require a signal input for clutch bypass and a e-brake wire. When this is combined the unit enters reservation mode, meaning you drive the car into the driveway, tap the brake, pull on the e-brake, remove the keys (car stays running) open and close the door (checks for a signal fromthe doorswitch) and then you turn the vehicle off by using the remote. Now the remote starter knows that the vehicle is in neutral and all the safety checks are in place to allow it to remote start properly and safely.

If your Focus key has a transponder chip in it, you are going to need a transponder bypass module to trick the vehicles anti-theft system into thinking that the key is in the ignition. It is called a pats2. This is much harder to install for most people than you think. Remote starters pass large amounts of current and they need to be properly hooked up to ensure proper operation, this means no crimp connections, no scotch lok connections. Your main wiring needs to be soldered and soldered properly. Do a lot more research on the parts you need and the install itself before you try it. If you are able to do it and have the proper tools and information, that's great. But to try and fail will cost you nothing but more $ for a shop to figure out.
