Remote sensor

Good Morning,

My son & I are restoring an old car ('67 F'bird). We do not want to cut the dash in order to install a new sound system, so we can either mount it in the glove box or in the trunk. We are looking for a CD receiver which will allow hookup with an Ipod, which most units now offer. What we are having difficulty finding, however, is a remote sensor which we might install in the ashtray area. With this we could have the receiver in either location.

Any help out there locating such a device?

Thanks,

C

Thanks for the reply. All the HU we have looked at do have a remote, but are "line of sight". The remote control in our hand needs to be able to see the HU, which precludes us from mounting it in the glove box or trunk; without a "remote sensor eye".

We have found what we think will work on the Blaupunkt web site. Have sent them a message but haven't received a reply yet.

The sensor is an IR sensor behind the tinted plastic on the faceplate. I dont know of any that have an input for an external reciever but you could buy a ir reciever and mount it by the ashtray and solder the wires to the internal one, but with a removable face plate that could get tricky.

edit: the easiest way would be to find a home theater ir repeater system that runs on 12v.
