remote bass control

Ok a quick ?, I turned the volume down on my HU, then on the remote bass control I turned it up a substantial amount, the amp is NOT going into protection or clipping, will this harm my amp or subs as long as it is running fine??? It seems to hit much harder that way than when the volume was up and the bass control down.

when the bass control was turned down, the input voltage was matched better to the head units output voltage. recently there were many threads on this topic of matching output voltages to your amp. you might want to check those out.
