Remote Bass control?

I was told by somebody else on this forum not to use a remote bass control unless I knew how to use it because it messes everything up. I am wondering how does it mess it up and why is it so complicated?

Basically what I am looking for is a seperate control for my sub other than my deck because I have very little control over the bass levels on the deck and also that controls the amount of bass the speakers are putting out as well. I cant get a new deck becuase my truck has the Nav screen in it, so im looking for an external amount of bass control. There are times that I really want to be pouding but a lot of songs and other situations(giving parents rides in my truck) I dont want to have the sub very loud at all.

Your bass knob will be fine as long as you don't abuse your sub with it.I had mine hooked up for a while and then I got sick of it so I started using the the subwoofer bass control on my deck.

but u cant attenuate bass with a bass knob... only GAIN knob can do wut u want, which is a good thing, but bass knob only increase the bass in an ugly way, i hate it ...

Check your manual as to what your knob is actually controlling. For my amp, the box called it a bass knob so I figured it changed the bass boost for my JBL's Dynamic Bass Optimizer....when it actuallity, it affects the gain....
