Hi all,
I am in a process of restoring a BMW from 90s.
I will have to pull out the whole interior hence I thought I would upgrade the sound a little.
At the moment the car has got 6 speakers however there was a factory upgrade to 10 speakers.
I have found a car with 10 speakers and taken out the whole loom and all speakers. This bit is easy however there is extra functionality that I was hoping to add with a help of this forum
What I would love to add is a remote amp that switches on demand (ie with a switch). The reason for this is that sometimes I want to simply listen to loud music and other times when I travel with family it has to be moderate.
So at the moment I have 4 channels (car has 6 speakers but front ones are simply joined in parallel) coming out of radio into this crossover/amp box that splits it into 10 channels.
Out of 10 channels I was thinking to amplify 4 channels (all low freq speakers)
Is it wise to do that? or should I do more chanels? the type of music will be mainly base so I am thinking it will be fine.
Also how do I choose that 4 speakers since they will have to effectively run at different power levels?
Here are link for some wiring for the current setup and new setup up to help you out (please note that one diagram shows 5 speakers for left side, right side is identical)

Thanks
Mike
