that since computers didnt use 4 numbers for dates, ie 2006, they would roll back to 1900 and like metl down or something..

The idea was that since a lot of algorithms were supposedly written to run off of two-digit dates, going to "/00" would either confuse whatever program was running and spit out bad data, shut down entirely, or keep on working...very silly now to think about it.
