thats kinda how i feel. i belive in a higher power but do not get all cought up in the technicallites of the diff reliogions. there have been many a time when i should have een dead but i got a lil help that pulled me through.

Well you can still believe in God without going for all the religion that goes with it.

I'm a Christian. I'm not going to try and force anyone into believing in Christ. I'll answer anyone's questions when they ask me about it though. I don't think my relationship with God has anything to do with fear (because I'm not afraid of God). I also do not feel the need to pay a certain percentage to Him in order to be "saved."Here's some questions for those that feel all religion and spirituality is worthless. I'd love to hear you guy's answers:

Since you don't believe in a higher power, what do you put your hope and faith in? Is that person or thing fallible?

Why do you deserve to live?

Do you think you deserve to live the life that you were born into instead of say a much less deprived life? Did you earn the life you were born into?

What should determine what justice right living is? Popular opinion (even tho popular opinion has led to legalized ****, mutilation, murder, etc. in past and present cultures)?

Religion to me is a control mechanism, as stated earlier in the thread, and a way for the weak(religious extremist) to find their life value. this not meant to be a bash on anyone, but why should I let someone else tell me how to run my life? and to the what about death...I don't care about death because I live for the now.

i'll answer these.....

I do not feel that I need to rely on faith or hope for anything...I live my life as it is and do what I please.

there is no such thing as deserving to live....I live because I have not yet died

I earned my physical life....everything I have, I worked for...whatever my parents did before I was born is their life not mine and they graced me with the household they built

I personally believe that if you leave me alone and do not violate my personal beliefs I will allow you to live. When you violate my beliefs whether it be targeted at me or one of my loved ones(including friends) I will deal with you personally

just some clarification to the preceding paragraph..

-if you come to my house or one of my friends homes and disrespect the dwelling you will be removed

-if you physically attack a loved one you will not see the light of day for a few months(I have done this)

-my personal opinion of inappropriate language and situations will be dealt with accordingly and all of my responses in a situation are based on the offender's reactions(physically or verbally) If I am not at a private dwelling then I disregard situations until someone else directly attacks me or a loved one

edit: if you don't know my rules, then your common sense should tell you appropriate behavior....and finally if someone of authority over the event or location confronts you...don't be a dick, I don't put up with it

I am completely fine with this, as I do not wish to influence others or bash anyone, however I will state my beliefs and complete side of the story

i believe religion is a weak mans medicine. Someone who fears death looks for a happy alternative such as heaven. People enjoy knowing answers to questions and before all the scientific break throughs people came up with a god that answers all the questions they cant figure out. Then they came up with an after-life because regular ole life on earth isnt good enough for them. I have a hard time believing any religion, but i was brought up a christian so i "kind of" believe in some things, but not others.

I just dont take the bible literately, most things make sense just not how it is exactly worded in the bible.

now a day's im just like whatever... shit happens. if i die tomarow... ok. even tho i want to live to be old..

i belive no matter who you belive in. no matter how mutch you go to church ect..

fate is going to take it's course. it's onley on ur personal descision's that get you where you want to go in this life..

I can see where you are coming from. My thought is that to me religion answers the question of why things are, not the question of how these things came to be, that is where religion and God fit in for me.

Like evolution and the big bang and everything. How did we become to be, we evolved from primitive lifeforms based on the rules of evolution and biology. Why are those the rules, because that is how God saw fit to make them. Same with the big bang and formation of the universe, it formed how it is based on the laws of physics but the laws of physics are how they are because God set them that way.
