Religion?

if you look at religions all over the world there is a tribe in africa tha to this day worships alligators. and a boys right of passage is to be cut with a razor blade so that his scars make him lok like a gator
dont go too far,

Indian ppl (ppl from india not native indians) believe in holly cow. lol. or whatever it is.

It's a crocodile not a gator they don't have gators in Africa genius. Gators are only in two countries the United States and China.

Also this may be the least philosophically valid discussion of all the aforementioned internet religion debates.

I think only trolls or 16 year olds care to bother with it anymore.

I'm a Christian. I'm not going to try and force anyone into believing in Christ. I'll answer anyone's questions when they ask me about it though. I don't think my relationship with God has anything to do with fear (because I'm not afraid of God). I also do not feel the need to pay a certain percentage to Him in order to be "saved."

Here's some questions for those that feel all religion and spirituality is worthless. I'd love to hear you guy's answers:

Since you don't believe in a higher power, what do you put your hope and faith in? Is that person or thing fallible?

Why do you deserve to live?

Do you think you deserve to live the life that you were born into instead of say a much less deprived life? Did you earn the life you were born into?

What should determine what justice right living is? Popular opinion (even tho popular opinion has led to legalized ****, mutilation, murder, etc. in past and present cultures)?

I don't personally believe in any of that shit. Too much evidence to prove other wise. How do religions explain the whole evolution thing if "god" created everything?
I'm Catholic and have no problem with evolution, in fact I believe whole heartedly in it. My thought is that the big bang was basically the hand of God, he created the matter and created the big bang and all of the rules of physics, biology et al. He then let those physical laws determine how everything worked out, but did not create it directly. Thats just my opinion, take it or leave it.

I'm a Christian although I do not attend church and do not follow the bible word for word. I believe that it has been mucked up by man throughout the ages to more reflect helping make those who lead the churches powerful and rich.

I believe that we are instilled with what is right and wrong and following those things will lead you to salvation.

Too many situations in my life have pointed to a higher power to not believe. I think people look for too much of a sign to really appreciate the things that are given to us.

I will share one that will seem like nothing at all to anyone but my wife and I, but I honestly felt help that day. We were doing our annual bike ride from Columbus to Cleveland (bicycle not motorcycle) and it was POURING. We were going up a big hill and I thought to myself "I'm going to have to call to get picked up, this is too dangerous and just wearing us down too much" we were about 100 miles into the trip and still had about 175 more to go and I honestly said to myself "now would be a good time for some help" and out in BFE with one house every 2 or 3 miles this little girl comes running out of nowhere and is yelling "hey mister hey mister" we stop and she says "my pa (yeah, were in cow town LOL) said you can come stay in the barn till it gets better out."

Anyways, the rain cleared up, we thanked them and left. We made it up the worst part of the trip called Malabar. Anyways, the following year I proposed at the top of that hill.

Karma? Fate, a high power? sure, it was something //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
