Man created religion. God created man and asks that we follow his rules. there are far to many "religious" people in the world today that live their lives how they want mon-sat. then put on a good show for God on Sunday.
DcTalk put it great in one of their songs.
The biggest single cause of atheisim today is Christians that acknowledge Jesus with their lips and live their lives how they wish.(or something to that effect)
dont get me wrong. I have no problem with going to church. I just find that there are far too many churches and church leaders that are not being held accountable for their actions and far to many churches are not teaching what needs to be taught. and that thought sickens me. far to many churches operate in the manner of sing a few songs preach for 10 mins about tithing and have a 30 min sermon and be home in time for the football game.According to your own understanding of the Bible, did God tell us what to believe in? Did He set out laws for us to follow? Did He tell us how to worship? Did He tell us how to interact with one another? Did He instruct us on how the church should operate? This sounds like religion as i understand it.
However, I think we interpret religion differently. You seem to think that religion only exists in its most distorted form. In other words, because religion is subject to being misused, you are prepared to disavow religion in its entirety. It occurs to me that Mr. Satan (a/k/a the great deceiver) is working on your mind on this issue.
Look at the last sentence of your post quoted above and see if there are any similarities between your reasons for disavowing religion and the reason you say people turn to atheisim.
That is called.... forgot it but u see the perversion of the church, the mixixng of religions and/or beleifs is what's predicted somewhere... AND this is my last POST in thsi thread. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifdont get me wrong. I have no problem with going to church. I just find it ironic that you obviously find it regrettable that some will not be open to the christian faith because of the actions of some christians, and yet you seem to distance yourself from "religion" because of what some have done in the name of religion. I am not trying to sharpshoot you at all. I just thought I might point something out about your position that you did not realize.dont get me wrong. I have no problem with going to church. Well okay, you don't have to be so pushy about it.here's the problem with religion:
pressure.
i don't pressure people not to believe, i don't tell them i think they're wasting their time and efforts, why do they feel the need to pressure me into coming to their side. Isn't that against the rules of "don't judge people"
not to mention all the holes in religion that I don't even want to argue with anyone over.
My view on religion, whether it be organized or not:
Don't push your views on me, and I won't push mine on yours. basically treat me how you want to be treated. I don't sit here and tell you i don't believe in god, because it offends you, so don't sit here and tell me i'm wrong because I don't, because that offends me.

Sounds like a cop-out to me.11The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven. 12He sighed deeply and said, "Why does this generation ask for a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, no sign will be given to it."
