Religion

to me faith = trust. if you don't trust the bible, how can you have faith in god?
there are other religions besides christianity, thus other books besides the bible. judaism, islam, buddhism, taoism

all seem to follow a linear path of you care enough to learn about them all. the rest from there is just connecting the dots.

that being said, should you trust the bible? nah, probably not. its a reference book just like anything you pick up off the shelf. I wouldnt recommend trusting any one source without comparing it to something else; however, once you have compared so much you realize that it isn't all bullshit...or at least that has been the case in my study so far.

look at it as a historical half-truth rather than the definitive source for life itself. theres more out there. For anyone to place 100% trust in the Bible is, I believe, just plain foolish.

I believe that we can take learn something from all religions to better ourselves and that are the makers of our own destiny and to look inside ourselves for the answers

Ok how about: The idea of a "spirit"? It can be argued that many living things are born with compassion and/or morals..... are these things explainable through modern scientific methods? Do these ideals even exist?

I don't think you are born with compassion/morals. Just like being someone being born to hate another race...you aren't born to hate, you are taught/learn to hate.

I'd say that's a cop-out, as the definition of "improbable" changes from generation to generation.
If you told someone that lived a thousand years ago of the things we do everyday, they'd probably consider you a god.
I totally can be.... but at the same time, there's some crazy shit in nature //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yes and no. Humans are a product of their environment. Add the ability to reason to that and you get a whole bunch of people who want to argue their point of view rather than just follow the leader like most other animal species. People learn morals, just look at the vast differences of culture across the planet; it varies by environment.

To say that science can explain this would be arguable on either side. Here is my theory: You have a seed, lets say, that will grow into a tree. Now, science can explain where that seed came from, what it will grow into, as well as the causality of the processes throughout its lifespan. This is common knowledge. What isn't common knowledge is the underlying theme of why that certain 'causality' results in such an awesome change (and I mean awesome by its proper definition). I think as much as science thinks it can explain everything, it lacks that basic principle of why. I can't explain it either. To me, that is proof enough that "God" exists.

Relate that to Humans and there you have it.
