relay help (pic)

an easy way to find out is grab a 9v battery, and put it on the coil side of the relay, if you hear a click. use it, the relay closed and it works, if it does not go click, go back to radio shack and exchange it for a 12v one, which I'm 1/2 way sure, is what you're going to end up doing.

EDIT:

also make sure the one you get has the diode on it!

 
My remote has numbers next to the pins that corresponded like this...

85 = remote (IN)

86 = ground

87 = Main 12V power

30 = to fans and amps

dunno if this will help you or not, hope so.
