Registering a new car in NC

Ive got a 67 falcon i need to get the title changed into my name and get it registered so i can get it on the road. Heres whats confusing me about the process:

NCDOT website says i need to have insurance on the vehicle before registering, but i cant get insurance unless its registered in my name can i? The title the guy gave me is already stamped by a "notary" and i just signed my name on it when i bought it, i assume i just take this to the DMV when i register the vehicle for tags and title transfer?

Im trying to figure out what i have to do before driving to the dmv (20-30 miles) so i dont wanna go up there unprepared and waste gas and stand in line for hours.

You have to get insurance first like the site says. Car my not be in your name but it is undrivable uninsured just like if financing a car it stays in the banks name until you pay it off, but you have to have insurance.

Havent had time to take any good pics of it yet. Its a cool little car though, i like it so far. Gets alot of respect from the older generation too. Still trying to work out some issues with the carburator, choke doesnt work right and the accell pump is out. Trying to get some info together to swap on a 2 barrel off a pontiac 400 and a digital ignition. Engine is a 200ci straight 6,

Call your insurance company and tell them what you are doing. All I do is let them know I've bought or am buying a vehicle and they automatically cover it. I've never had the dmv actually verify that I had insurance though.

reminds me of a thread i once read about how your insurance is dirt cheap

good thing about me having full coverage....its covers me in any car wether its mine or not.

Yea, i already went by and asked about adding this car to my insurance, but i thought i had to register it first so i didnt know i could insure it then or i woulda added it already. 16$ a month for the same coverage adding this vehicle i think it was. My insurance just went up for the 2 i got on there, obama mustve done it.

Edit, i see in the other thread i said it was insured by mistake, that was a diff one. Ill be looking at about 60 a month i think it was, with 3 vehicles. Thats after obama jacked my insurance up too btw.
