Refrubed Units....

Anyone have any experience with manufacture refurbed units? The cost savings are up to the point of 1k. Just want to know if people have had issues with them, and what they were? Looking at the kenwood KVT 915. I also can't find any of these units new online. Is there a reason for that?

**** thats a long warranty. Most of the places I am finding are 30days and thats it. I hate buying expensive stuff off of ebay, but I guess the people I am buying it from online could be just as screwy.

Hmmm I guess 2 years worth wouldn't be bad. I mean by then I could afford alot more, and it wouldn't hurt so much to spend 2k on a new unit. I think I would be satisfied with 2 years or a little more worth.

Y dont u buy this xxv-05v as far as i know is its the same exact unit if not a lil better. It will cost u $100 more but u are able to add the 3 year warranty to it.

I just realized thats a 2005 model, naturally I would assume those are either left overs or refurbs. Which is what this thread is about so I am not complaining just clearing that up in case others stumble on to this thread later. I wonder if kenwood has anything out more current. The only reason I am leaning towards a kenwood is the garmin GPS. Garmin is pretty much king when it comes to personal GPS, and I am used to the menus/features from my wifes GPS unit.

Ya it is an 05 model. It was their 25th anniversary units and they put alot of work into them. The new top 06 models (kdc-x990, KVT 915 etc..) are prety much the same products with very lil difference. So i would realy recomend any Kenwood 25th anniversary Head Units.

Thanks guys I appreciate all the help. I have been out of the radio sceen for quite sometime. Been into building lifted jeeps, and workin on sportbikes. Coming back in with all the new technology is kinda overwhelming. I briefly thought about the carputer thing, but started reading about it and was very fast way in over my head. Which is kinda funny since I am a computer programmer one would think computers are my thing. But I am a software guy not hardware.
