Reformat PC without disk. bought ext HD, got rar file

Looks like randy went on a vicous rampage lol and the thread got deleted

Anyways I made a thread earlier about reformatting and backing up my pc. But I dont have the original XP disks that came with the pc 3 years ago. So in the past 3 hours I went and bought a western digital ext hardrive 250gb for $100 and started copying over all my important files.

The torrent that proximity (id love to know who is in ur avatar btw) sent me finished downloading, but it has a .rar file extension and is 503mb, how do you extract that? Once extracted is it simply copying and pasting all of its contents onto a blank cd, using the product cd key on the side of my computer and its done??

Just dont want my pc to be messed for good or do something that cant be fixed.

you need WinRAR

then once it's extracted, I'm assuming it's probably like an ISO or something, you just need to burn it to a disk

oh winrar is a program, gotcha, I was trying with winzip and was getting a whole lot of fail lol

Well Im in canada, we dont have anywhere near the deals the you guys do, nor the selection, $115 with taxes total, was on sale from $169 +tAX

Just got all my files copied onto the HD

Kinda screwed myself to, should have done it yesterday, I went to copy all my **** that I had in a private folder you had to enter a password for, and ofcourse something happened to them and every single one no longer works //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

All my pics and personal vids are working though so its all good, about to burn the disk and extract the rar file here on my sisters comp and make a cd
