Reducing box size of 18" Q

well i finally got around to fixing my Q but there was one other problem when i was using it before. This was that it would bottom out very easily on loud songs. I was thinking about trying to reduce the size a bit to raise mech power handleing. What do you think would be a good size. And what would be the best thing to use to take up the extra space. Right now im right around 6 cf.

to take up extra space you could just put a piece of wood inside there like you would if you were making a dual chambered box. or you could just cut part of one of the sides off
