RED TOP battery

iv had a redtop batery for at least 5 years.... its been used atleast 65% of the past 5years.. question is, how much life does it have left in it??? PS- getn a volt meter today to check it. hasnt been used for prolly 5months...

What are you bumping for? There is no way any of us can tell you the lifespan of your battery.

I wouldn't expect much more life from it. most batts last 4-8 years and my yellowtop died after 3 (after I abused the hell out of of course).

I have see Reds die in 2 months and I have heard of people running them for 6 years. You choose in that range where you want to.

ive had one in for 3 years so far, in 2 different vehicles. it was solely powering about 1000w for about 1.5years, then i upgraded to more batteries in the back with the redtop up front, running anywhere from 3-4kw and havent had any issues.

Dude, it is like asking how long a pair of shoes are going to last me. There is no freaking way to know for sure. If used properly (as a starting battery) it should last many years. If used to power car audio, maybe as little as one deep cycle. There is no way to know for sure. Especially from the vague info that you have given us. I am not trying to be a dick, but you are asking a question that is about as easy to answer as what are the winning lottery numbers going to be tonight.

The average battery today is designed to last at least 5-6 years under normal automotive conditions (no major electronics upgrades).

There are many factors that will lower the lifespan such as the temperature. Really hot or cold weather will shorten lifespan.

Also deep cycling a batt that wasn't designed for it will shorten the life.

If you let the batt sit for too long without charging it (which sounds like what you are doing), it is not good for starting batt.

Nobody can know the temps and amount of cycling your batt has been through so its hard to give a good answer.

I would guess you might have another year or two (provided that it will still keep a decent charge at this moment)

x2 hes good, just load test it its the only true way to tell otherwise you can check resting voltage by turning on the lights for 30 seconds or so then turn them off and see the voltage.
