Reconing question

Idk if this is in the right section but here goes... I was in the attic earlier and found some of my dads old subs and they were monsters back in the day... Now my question is, are drop in recode kits some what universal, like will a 2.5 inch coil 10 inch recone fit most 2.5 inch coil 10 inch subs? Would love to try and do my own first recone and try on these seeing as I got the motor and basket for free!

not really man,i recone on the side and its not that simple,you need to measure the magnet gap,you need to measure the spider landing,and the surround landing.and of course the coil winding width,and how far the coil is in the magnet,i.e) how much winding is in tha gap,what kind of subs are they?

a "2.5 inch coil" there is pretty much 3 basic sizes to that class and many many different gaps.

what i would need is pole od,top plate id,top plate thickness, distance ingap bottom to the top of the top plate, or # of slugs.

most motors i have reconed and just need top plate id to double check myself...
