recone vs. new sub

So I have 3 blown memphis cm15d2 subs, but I only have the money to recone 1. Are the motors good enough to be worth reconing? Or should I just look for a $300-$400 sub? Also if I should get it reconed who should I go to? SPLaudio or PSI?

first off, why did they blow? too much power? incorrect amp setup (gain all the way up) or just died from old age?

The first one blew probably about 3 years ago bc it was wired wrong, and the other 2 are bc of bass boost.

Can you mess up a motor? I thought it was just the coil and softparts that give out? Never been dropped, just pretty much sat in my room for a long time

if you can get them rebuilt local for a decent price go that way, if not look into some of the sundown range or anything similar to the specs of the Memphis subs

So would A zv3 or dc lvl 4 be better than my mojo with upgraded soft parts? I know my mojo will take a 3.5" coil

i'd say they are all much the muchness...... mojo has the higher rms rating. how much pwr are you sending it?

Im gonna get a ap3k for now bc im on a budget but id like for it to handle more if possible for when I get a bigger amp. Will the recone make the rms any better or will it stay about the same?

should be the exact same, maybe a lil bit better cooling. what softparts ect ect? if it were me, i'd get a new sub and a custom box built for it to run from your new amp.

I already have a 5^3ft, box tuned pretty low like 28 or so. That's why I'm asking who I should go to. Who does the best recones?
