Recone Kit for SI Mag 12"

I bought this used a while ago, it is the old style and somhow I blew the **** thing. SI wants to much money for a kit as I have to send this heavy @ss thing both ways. I want a recone kit that I can do myself, any ideas what / where to get a kit from. I was thinking about RE, I tried calling and emailing and no one ever gets back to me. Any one have any ideas?? It is a shame having this magnet/basket sitting here and not being used.

I tried a couple of months ago when it happened. I sent about three emails with no reply and tried calling, no one picked up. Would RE be the best to go with for this basket? Can I put on a XXX kit on it? I just want something, perferably something good.

Yes you probably can, just a standard 3" coil.Just a few things to note, RE won't pick-up on the first try.They never reply to emails, they don't sell direct, and they won't send the XXX dustcap to be put on any other sub except the XXX.Or some shit like that.Just because you put a SX, or MT, or xxx recone kit, doesn't make the sub that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Chances are it'll sound very very similar to what it sounded like originally.

That is pretty much what I am after, I just want it to sound like a sub of that size should. Now if they do not sell direct, how am i supposed to get one? Every now and then I see a recone kit for sale on here but they are few and far between. Does any one here have a connection, or perhaps have one laying around that wants to part with it?

I thought I read that re will not send out recones anymore except to dealers and possibly competitors. Also thought I read they don't recone drivers other than RE now.

So is there any alternatives besides RE, that will be as good of quality? I do not want to send it in to them, I will do the recone myself so I just need a kit. Any competitors out there wanna hook a brotha up??

Soft parts have alot to do with the sound of the driver.

What he said. If you throw in a moving assembly from a XXX you'll end up with a completely different sounding driver (coil layers/gauge affect gap measurements, which affect lots of T/S's).

But, do what you want to do I suppose since we want "too much money."

I should rephrase that, FedEx or UPS wants too much money. That SOB is Heavy and I really do not want to pay for shipping 2 more times If i can get a recone kit and do it myself. Shipping from WA state to NC costs a bit of money......
