I'm planning on getting the Alpine SWR-12D4 subwoofer in a ported box. The amp needs to be close to 1000watts at 2ohms (I don't think 100watts less will make that much of a difference). My budget is $280.

Is the Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D any good? On SonicElectronix it's frequency response is listed as 35-250Hz, but I have some songs that have lower frequencies than that. And it also has something about a subsonic filter. So I'm confused on what frequency this amp cuts off at.

second that ^ hifonics are overpriced if you buy new. Much better price-performance ratio and reliability with the PPIs

hell, if you add a few bucks, to your budget, Dmac has an amp for sale that will smoke either hifonics or ppi any given day of the week.

fa sho

actually just $10 more dollars on his budget and he could already be doin it big as far as some real power goes lol

You guys can put the names to the amps that are a little over my budget. I might be able to squeeze them in my budget if they are actually worth it. As in they make it sound better or something?

They wouldn't necessarily make it "sound better" but it'd be a **** ton more efficient than running Hifonics.

Easier on your cars electrical.

I run the CT Sounds 1400.1 on a 13ft run of 4 gauge wire, tuned to -5db, gains at about 9 o'clock and voltage only drops to 13.5v full tilt on a 25hz bass note. Otherwise it's around 13.8-13.9v

Now I do have a 150a alt stock which could be helping with that alot, but still, for bone stock electrical and 4 gauge wiring on a **** near 2k amp, that's pretty good

yep. They are 439.99 new from dealers
