i am getting one alpine SWR-1042D sub that has has a rms of 500w and a peak of 1500w. what amp would u recommend that i use.

i also got a head unit that supplies 18w rms and 50w peak per a channel for my speakers, but my speakers are 40w rms and 200w peak. should i use a amp for these? i have 2 of the speakers but i might get 4 total.

also a newb question, wut does it mean when it is a mono amp?

as for an amp to how much do you have? if on a tight budget and you dont mind refurbs go check out ikesound.com. they have a pretty decent deals.

in general you should always amp your speakers with an external amp because it will probably supply more power and quite possibly much cleaner power.

mono amp means that the amp is only one channel.
