Recommendations for a Camaro

Did you already order the camaro, cause I would rather put in a system myself it would be way better than the boston system. But if you did already I would just upgrade the subwoofer and amp with a line converter. The boston speakers are ok from what I've heard about them but nothing speacial. After reading alot on these forums it seems like more speakers doesnt mean better, most ppl only use high end components for the doors only and run the rear speakers but fade mostly to the front so you have a rear fill.
I just have the base audio system in my camaro atm but I'm in the middle of replacing my whole audio system in my camaro aswell, I'm replacing the HU with amped door speakers and sub. Will post some pics when im done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Already ordered. It comes standard with the car. I don't think you could even get the system to not be installed, even if I asked.

Buy a Challenger. No, really. Buy a Challenger.
Why would I do that ???? I bought a car weighing 300-400 pounds less, having only about 40 less HP than the SRT8 car, costing about 8-10K less, and overall being a much easier car to mod. Sure the interior on the Challenger's are nice, but if I REALLY want to go hard on the streets, or on the track, I'll just take my '68 Chevelle out for a ride //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

This is my daily driver....

Hey bro, when you buy that camaro SS for that large amount of cash, i will still be faster than you with less than a grand invested in my old school american big block oldsmobile.
Hey bro, all I heard was, "I can't afford a NEW car model with more than 6 cylinders, so I'm gonna build up an old crappy Olds"

My Chevelle will put your big block to sleep I'm sure, so your point is moot anyway.

This was a happy medium between my Civic which I have now (and is a snore) and a pretty much un-streetable '68 Chevelle.

You will probably spend around $1200 for just the bass with all the extras like wiring, audio control piece if you use the factory head unit. This is my 2010 Camaro 2010 Camaro I bought it in April and got it July 2009. Drove it one week then tore it apart for 6 months. I used JL Audio their amps have 86% THD rate, but that was last year. This Year Alpine came out with their high end amps which is like 94& THD hardly any distortion. On the factory stereo system, I blew the right door speaker, so I would upgrade your speakers with a good set of components. Alpine has a 5 channel amp. 4 channels for speakers and one channel for a sub. JL Audio has the best true woofers. I would use Alpine amps and components, JL Audio subs. If you want to spend a lot of money Audison is the benchmark for car audio.
Thanks for some actual input on what I needed help with instead of talking about a POS Olds body that is MAYBE pushing 500 HP....and that's assuming they were Old's motors and tuned right....

I will do some research on Audison. Are they THAT much more expensive than JL ???? I know JL can get pricey.

You do realize that THD is distortion?I think what you're trying to refer to is efficiency rate.

If you're going to spend $1000, just buy the PG plug n play set. No additional wires to buy.
So what if I upped it to 1500 or 2000, what would you recommend then ????

I'd probably put some of that money towards a Custom tune on the new 2012 camaro. Get a reputable tuner to do a custom / dyno tune and it will wake up the engine a little more. Do not get a handheld tuner.. Later on you can add headers or if you are itching for more power a cam.

That phoenix gold integrated system isn't bad at all btw.
I will, later. I'm probably just slap that Edelbrock blower on it when I get "used" to it and be at 600 HP, get it tuned, and call it a day. I was going to get the ZL1 but I'm also trying to buy a house and realistically, I live in L.A. and it's hard to put 590 HP to good use anywhere around here. Just didn't make sense.

As for the Integrated system, I might try it out. I'll look to see how much it goes for.

LOL ..... i 2nd everything this guy has said... 2010 boston premuim fukn blew on my in 1st couple months so i wouldnt get it and just do it all yourself
Its part of the 2SS Camaro, just how it comes. I can't take that off. If nothing else, it gives me more slots to put better speakers/tweeters later on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Already on there bud, thanks though. Figured I'd come to audio nerds before I went to the gearheads //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The closest Phoenix installer is about 80 miles away. I'm concerned that the single 10' sub on a 300 watt amp isn't going to be enough for me. I'm trying to go UP from my current setup, or at least emulate it (hopefully without any rattle at all inside, or out). Will it be comparable ????

Also, I'm reading that messing with the system can mess with the features on it. Is there any way to just slap an amp and some subs in a custom box to save some space (the current one I have is huge) without sacrificing features of the car ????
