Recommendations for a Camaro

I was looking for recommendations for a 2012 Chevy Camaro 2SS I'm about to buy. I have a 2006 Honda Civic now that I bought a sub box and amp for and I would like to have something a bit nicer in my Camaro. I have Kicker Competition VR's or something like that in my box, mated with an Xplod amp now (800 watts I believe). I had a 600 watt Kenwood that I LOVED, but alas, it died on me =..( I may be able to get it repaired on the cheap. If I do, should I/can I use that on my Camaro ????

The car comes with a, "Boston Acoustics premium 9-speaker 245-watt audio system" which I don't want to mess with too much (I don't plan on tearing up the dash and putting in another head unit or NAV/DVD or anything anytime soon), I guess just MAYBE beef up the 9 speaker system (if that's possible) and what I really want to do is to get the bass thumping.

I have between $800-$1200 to spend, and I want the bass to be FELT when you're say, 2 or 3 cars away, but not obnoxiously loud where it's rattling every mirror/window within 50 feet of me.

I mostly listen to Hip Hop, and some Techno, some Metal/Rock, and a bit of Spanish music (Banda, Roc en Espanol, Corridos, Tejano, etc).

I'm willing to give up SOME space in my trunk, but I'd still like to have enough trunk space to put luggage in there when I take a weekend trip to San Diego, Vegas, or something (I live in Los Angeles) I would like to keep as much trunk space as possible, but I at least get the idea that to get better sound, you gotta give your subs space to move/be dampened, so if there's some type of design that achieves both but costs more, this is the area where I'd be willing to spend a bit more.

I guess I need recommendations for the Boston speakers (are they even a good brand????) if any, and recommendations on an amp, subs, enclosure (type, style, shape, etc) and anything else you recommend.

The Camaro should be here in about 4 to 6 weeks, so I have some time. However, I'd like to research and make a decision before the car gets here so that I can set that money aside.

I'm open to all suggestions. I just want to make an informed decision, and don't want to get ripped off paying for brand names (which I've read on here aren't worth the money) I'm not too techy with car audio, so please forgive my ignorance. Please, feel free to school me, as long as you educate =)

P.S. In my Civic, my subs rattled my rear deck (made of plastic) which I reinforced with some sound deadener, but it never completely went away, if anyone has seen the set up of the Camaro (or has one) will I have to do something similar to it ???? Thanks in advance.

Did you already order the camaro, cause I would rather put in a system myself it would be way better than the boston system. But if you did already I would just upgrade the subwoofer and amp with a line converter. The boston speakers are ok from what I've heard about them but nothing speacial. After reading alot on these forums it seems like more speakers doesnt mean better, most ppl only use high end components for the doors only and run the rear speakers but fade mostly to the front so you have a rear fill.

I just have the base audio system in my camaro atm but I'm in the middle of replacing my whole audio system in my camaro aswell, I'm replacing the HU with amped door speakers and sub. Will post some pics when im done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hey bro, when you buy that camaro SS for that large amount of cash, i will still be faster than you with less than a grand invested in my old school american big block oldsmobile.

Waffle, I don't get you sometimes.

At times you seem like a great guy, other times like an a$$, guess which time this one would be?

You bash the new Camaro, made by GM, yet you're praising about your Olds....... at which is also a GM????????? And before you hit on me about my truck being slow, it's quite fast for its size (I have had a few things done), but I don't want speed, I want power. While you could outrun me, I can out pull you.

You will probably spend around $1200 for just the bass with all the extras like wiring, audio control piece if you use the factory head unit. This is my 2010 Camaro 2010 Camaro I bought it in April and got it July 2009. Drove it one week then tore it apart for 6 months. I used JL Audio their amps have 86% THD rate, but that was last year. This Year Alpine came out with their high end amps which is like 94& THD hardly any distortion. On the factory stereo system, I blew the right door speaker, so I would upgrade your speakers with a good set of components. Alpine has a 5 channel amp. 4 channels for speakers and one channel for a sub. JL Audio has the best true woofers. I would use Alpine amps and components, JL Audio subs. If you want to spend a lot of money Audison is the benchmark for car audio.

... 86% THD rate,.... 94& THD hardly any distortion....
You do realize that THD is distortion?

I think what you're trying to refer to is efficiency rate.

If you're going to spend $1000, just buy the PG plug n play set. No additional wires to buy.

I'd probably put some of that money towards a Custom tune on the new 2012 camaro. Get a reputable tuner to do a custom / dyno tune and it will wake up the engine a little more. Do not get a handheld tuner.. Later on you can add headers or if you are itching for more power a cam.

That phoenix gold integrated system isn't bad at all btw.
