Friend just bought a Power Acoustik BAMF-5500.. What can he expect out of it

I tried and tried to get him to buy something from DC, Atomic, Sundown.. hell even JL or RF. But he went with that amp... I know it wont do rated (he doesn't believe me), I accepted the fact that he wouldn't take my advice on amps so I asked what kind of electrical he was planning.. He said a 50 Farad capacitor..... How in efficient is this amp? I assume its going to drop volts low enough to blow it on a stock battery. He owns a 92 Lincoln Navigator.. Any advice?? Maybe I can show him this thread and change his mind before be blows his stuff

He called me yesterday trying to calculate RMS, his formula Add fuses together = (200) then multiply by applied voltage (14) so he says 2800 RMS :| I said to multiply the peak by .707 but he said no //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif How do you think that electrical will stand up, my only concern is an inefficient amp that blows because voltage dropped to low. but idk if he would listen

i would suggest a supplemental battery as well. and his 200x14.4=2880 is great but time to average in 70-80% efficiency so take 500-800w off that # at best is what he may get.

to get ripped off and shotty sq. 2000wrms is possible but not likely with that efficiency without ho alt big 3 2 bats and loop of 1/0.

More than likely he'll end up with stock alt no big 3 4gauge and getting around 800wrms my guess.

i would say almost 2k if you factor in efficiency. The equation is P=IV where Power(P)=Current(I)*Voltage(V) but you also have to multiply efficiency and I always go conservative with a number like 65-70% so you're looking at P=200(14.4)(.65)=1872w. If more efficient, then slightly more power.

My guess is about 1600-1800rms. 200amps of fuses * 8-9 (about 75% of 12v) Those amps are not very efficient at all, don't let the d class circuitry fool you.
