Recommend me a HU better than the pioneer 80prs?

what is 24bit burr brown? and what makes it desirable?and same for the 13-16eq band?

what does an "average" head unit have compared to those options also?
An average head unit should have a standard 16bit digital to analog converter. Or higher...

Burr brown to my understanding is a high grade digital to analog converter.

Head units have EQ's ranging from 0 (noeq)-31 bands (p99rs) - Average is about 7-10, for SQ decks.

But you have to be careful because some decks only have EQ presets which means you cannot change individual frequencies. But you can select a predetermined setting for Rock, Jazz, Rap, etc.

Parametric eq's have a set number of EQ bands, but you can select the bands that need adjustment.

Example the eclise has a 7 band eq but you can program the first band to adjust 63, 80, or 100 hz; the other eq bands have 3 options as well.

ohh ok. does the 16bit digital to analog only matter for CD's? or ipods too?

I googled it burr-brown is produced by texas instruments.

Any digital signal must be converted to analog for an rca or speaker line level output.

Cd's yes, iPod's yes

I believe if you use the 3.5mm output from your ipod instead of the standard apple cable you can bypass your decks DAC... In that scenario you would be using the ipod's DAC.

The 3.5mm cable carrys analog signal so it would not need to go through a DAC.

Radio tuners (unless they are satalite or HD tuners) also should not need to go through a DAC.

I use an LOD cable for my ipod. So it bypasses the ipods DAC and uses the headunits.

Ok. now it all making sense. Now I want to check out my manual and see what my HU is.

i love my cd7000, try to find a 7200 u will be more than happy with it

The preout voltage is rated at 8... it's more like a high 5V or so, but still very nice.

In a few ways I prefer the sound out of the eclipse to my p99rs... very warm sounding, not as much detail though...

it only has 3 eq bands?then what would 7? 13? look like?

A 10 band eq. Just gives you a higher degree of frequency adjustment, the ability to adjust more frequencies.

I believe that deck has preset EQ settings in addition to an adjustable EQ.
"•3-band parametric equalizer, plus 8 preset EQ curves"

It should be in your manual on how and what you can adjust.
Ok. gotcha. yeah. The only one I know to touch is the LPF. When I mess with the middle/high. I never notice anything differenct
