Recommend a good active setup

I have an Orion 8004 which does 100 X 4 at 4 ohm. Could you recommend a pair of mids and a pair of tweeters that would work well off of that power. I listen to mostly metal and rock with the occassional rap or hip hop cd. In stock door locations. Like to stay around $250, but will go higher if neccessary. Thanks, Jim

I was planning on using the crossovers on the amp. This is my first time going active and I am hoping the amp will be sufficient.

I run the 7" version of those daytons and the aluminum dome dayton tweet......

once you go active you won't look back... trust me...

The amp's xovers will work if there is a bandpass xover on one of the channels. that means it can set both high and low xover for the mids. otherwise you'll need an active HU like the Alpine 9853 or 9855...

I'm running the same set up, but in a MTM config. VERY happy with the SQ of that combo and plenty of output when needed.

Using a Helix 4 channel that has BP capability. Not many amps out there that do as I searched and searched. I'd suggest getting a HU that will do your Xover settings then you can use any amp.

can you give a bit more info on what kind of system you want?

loud, clean, detailed, smooth, laid back etc..

also don't forget that most diy speakers are 8 ohm meaning you'll get half the power from that amp

and i would really reccomend getting a decent external xover, they're not very expensive and will make your life so much easier.... tuning the xover from the amp is a pain in the a ss because you have to deviate from the listening position to change it.
