Probably not... you have to look at how a box is tuned as well... I was also gunna go with one of those and was told not to

I know you said prefab boxes are crap but i was looking at the recommendations in the manual for these subs and i found a box, the sound ordnance bass bunker dual 12 inch sealed box has basically dead on specs. Would that be a bad choice?

Get a custom ported box built, he/possibly she? Will be able to get a box built that will get the most from your subs. The jl's while probably a bit overrated, are still excellent subs, and if sq is want you're lookin for, they should definitely be better than the kickers. A good sealed box would be good, but I'd go ported. The tuning is a desicion you and you're box builder will have to talk about. I like sq, but dont like sealed boxes at all, I like an ever so slight peakiness, I dont know why lol

Well how much do you think it would be to get a custom enclosure built? I went to my local car audio store and they wanted 350. Is that about how much it would cost or are they too expensive?

Ya im assuming by your reaction, thats too high? Whats the average price for a custom box for 2 12's? If I was to go custom id go ported because from what im reading ported is where you really need to match the specs down to a T. Plus I found a sealed one that is pretty much dead on with the specs my subs require.

PM me with your availble space..max height, width, and depth. Also include your zip code and remind me what exact subs/amp you are using. I will get you a quote so you have an idea of what your looking at for a custom enclosure.

BTW-I have a ton of refs for enclosures on here and if you want some pics just let me know and i can provide as many as you like. I do have a few posts in the build log section for other forum members' enclosures.

As for prefab enclosures. Most are not exactly truthful with specs and the material they are build with and the quality of the build is typically below average.
