It seems like the kickers might have actually sounded better. I think its gotta be the box I am using though. The box I am running is a Subzone Dual 12" Vented Subwoofer Box its got 1.4cu ft of air space. The jls recommend 1.75 for a ported enclosure I asked the guy at crutchfield before I ordered them and he said it wouldnt matter. I have read rave reviews about the 3w's and from what im hearing I think the kickers were better. Can someone tell me if its my box or if those subs are just over rated? I am running them off a Memphis mcd-1100 wired in parallel for 1ohm. The jls are SVC. The kickers were dual voice coil. If you wanna see a pic of the box I am running heres a link. SubZone HD Series Enclosure Any input would be greatly appreciated. Another thing is I have let them break in for id say a good 20 hours.

I would think the difference from your enclosure to a custom built for your application enclosure would be pretty big. You can tell a builder to do a bit more "generic" air space and tuning so you can have the ability to upgrade and not have a need to purchase another enclosure.

I know you said prefab boxes are crap but i was looking at the recommendations in the manual for these subs and i found a box, the sound ordnance bass bunker dual 12 inch sealed box has basically dead on specs. Would that be a bad choice?
