Reccomend me a setup for 500$

12 or 15 inch kicker comp VRs or memphis power referances ported in a decent sized box.

you can find them for like 150-175 a pair and a good 600-800 watt amp for 150-250.. the rest will be used for wiring, wood, carpet, etc. (surprising how expensive it is if this is your 1st setup

hmm.. atlas 12 wont touch two VR 12s IMO.. or PRs.. (for SPL that is)

it would be a great sub for rock and anything else simply cause its quick and has great SQ.. but if you want it loud and sounding decent.. then stick with PRs or VRs

deff. the Memphis pr's hell give em about 800 watts and youll deff. bang. I ran two of them twelves in a 4.6 ft^3 with a Profile 800 ( about $120 shipped) and it got loud

I listen to all kinds of music, but motly rock.
Yea...definitely every pure-SPL sub I've heard try to play rock has sounded like ***. I still remember my cousin playing my Glassjaw CD through his L7's...I get sick just thinking about it. There's plenty of woofers out there that pound and can reproduce an accurate note for around that price.

Try something soundsplinter or RE. The atlas suggested earlier might not be a bad choice, but I can't say for sure because I've never personally heard them. Ascendant audio does have that huge sale right now on their subs though, and plenty people indeed love them. If you want something mainstream, perhaps a JL or Infinity (just don't expect too much SPL out of the Infinity).

Couple that with a planet audio or hifonics amp off ebay perhaps - I just bought a 750@2ohm planet audio off of ebay for like $150 shipped. Can't beat that.

yeah i had a comp VR 15 on 600 watts sealed and i thought it sounded great on a lot of rock songs.. so i dont think he has to worry abotu it that much. especially if he hasnt gone through years of this to where he is as picky as some of us (glad im not yet)

im sure the PRs or VRs would sound FINE.. theyre not SQ subs but that doesnt mean they sound terrible.
