rebuild sub for fun?

ok i have this old piece of crap lightning audio 12 incher that has been sitting around for years. it was blown and i was just thinking about doin a fun little project but dont know where to begin or if i even can. i just removed the motor so i now have a basket with surround still attatched and the motor separate. its a pretty solid basket for being on a junker but anyway what should i do/ need to do to make something that even remotely resembles a working subwoofer?

take some measurements, like bolt pattern and mount-hole dia. etc..... so what you are saying is that you have a decent basket that you want to biuld something out of, right?
