rear view mirror rattles, help!

yeah my dad was like "adam you HAVE to have a rearview mirror no if's and's or butt's" so after mine fell down the 1st time i glued the metal piece back and put the new mirror back on. about 5 days later it fell off so i was SOL again, this time however the metal piece was still there. my dad was like not enough glue on the plastic i'll take care of it don't worry. so he tried getting it off cracked my windshield and was like "ok all you need is the metal piece up there and put the mirror on for inspection." so all's well that ends well in my experience hehe. just thought i'd share my dilemma i had.

the difference is, we like him and i wouldn't say he is a dick actually he's pretty laid back most of the time. i do however agree with more_spl's award

The only way to keep your RVM from falling off is to put a little adhesive caulk behind it and a small bead around the outside. That way it can rattle and shake all day and the rubbery caulk won't come loose. If you have a system, your mirror is going to rattle and shake, there's no way of getting around it. I personally don't like to bother with it and just took mine off.

The best kind of adhesive to use (that i've found so far) is the same stuff you use to glue bathroom tiles down. Make sure that if you plan to do this that you use the clear stuff tho......if you use the white stuff it's gonna look really ghetto.

speaking of which, my mirror fwell off today..

mid you, the car wasnt on and neither was the system...

i ws palying ball and the car was sitting in the parking lot in the hot sun and when i got back, no mirror, lol.

oh well..

no, to get the old glue off and put new stuff down...
