rear speakers

I installed a pair of boston sl60 on my alpine cda-9825. I don't want my rear speakers to be hooked up, but i don't want to take them out of the vehicle b/c i dont have the time to take my door panels off and everything. Do i just disconnect the speakers wire from the hu? Should i tape up the copper on the wire after i disconnect it so it doesn't cause interference? I just wanna know if it is safe to just unplug the rear speakers. I just don't want their wires to mess anything else up.

your deck should have a subwoofer output---doesn't it? hook your amp rca's to the sub pre-outs that will solve the fading issue. otherwise just take the leads off the rear speaks.

What's wrong with taking off door panels? After the first time, it's easy. You do it, unhook the speakers, reattach the panels, you're done in 10 minutes.

Taking off the door panels in my Pathfinder took more than 10 minutes. Nissan made some rigid doors with multiple hidden screws securing the panel. It must be taken off in a certain step-by-step way or it wont come off. If someone ever tries to steal my speakers, they will have a tough time.
