Rear speakers for 2000 Nissan Sentra SE

I posted a thread about what to get for a 2000 Nissan Sentra SE a while back and i got good recommendations for front speakers. I got some polk DB's. After I installed these though I realized that one of my rear speakers is blown out, so I need some recommendations for rear speakers. What do you think I should get? I want some cheap ones, but good quality if possible. Also I only have the factory HU, so do you think I need to get a new one? Thanks!

i have an 02 spec-v. and i don't use the rear stage at all. if u want i might give u mine when i get a chance to take them out. i'm putting some mid-bass's in there later. (maybe)

So you just use the front two speakers? When I tried turning off the back speakers with my head unit, it sounded really flat and not that great quality. Do you think I just need a new head unit? Thanks!

oh yea, if it's anything like my old HU get something else. it's not hard to change one in that car. (ps, i have one for sale //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ) does your's have the tweets in the a/pillar?

What kind do you have for sale? I'm not even sure if it does haha. Are you talking about the little speakers in the very front by the window? Sorry for the dumb question but I don't know very much about car audio as you can probably tell.

yea, there should be a little tweet just above the dash on the a pillar on that car. (if it has that sound system in there) u'll see a little differn't plastic part there with a lot of little holes in it. i'll PM u bout the HU.

Yeah I see the two plastic parts with all the holes in them. And I posted about my car on a sentra message board and they said that it has a sub too, which I didn't even know about. (I just bought this car used about a month ago so I don't know everything about it yet.)

yea, there is a little 6.5 sub in the rear deck. if u look back there you'll see the little bugger between the reagular speakers. i took mine out. whats the point of having that little thing when u got something bigger in the trunk.

I checked and I have a 6.5 sub. But I tested it and I think maybe it's blown out too, because it sounds really bad. I can't tell if it's the right or left rear speaker or the sub or all of them that's making it sound bad, but the left sounds the worst. Should I just replace the speakers AND get a new sub too or what do you recommend? What brand of subs and amp do you recommend? I think I might get one. Thanks!

i say don't worry bout the rear's first. disconnect them and deal with the other stuff. whats your price range, and what size sub / subs are u looking for.
I don't really know anything about subs, so I can't even say yet. Right now I have one that I like for my computer (Logitech z5300 5.1) but I don't know what size it is or anything. I want to spend under 200 for the sub and amp if possible, but the cheaper the better. I'm not that sensitive to sound quality and I listen to burned cds and mp3s a lot so I don't need anything too amazing, but as long as it sounds as good as my computer speakers I'm happy.

So this is what I'm thinking of getting:

Head Unit: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X679 (still open to recommendations)

Front Speakers: (already have) Polk DB650

Rear Speakers: Polk DB675 (still open to recommendations)

Amp: JL Audio 500/1 Amp (just a possibility)

Subs: 2 KEF 8 inch subs (just a possibility)

What do you guys think? Thanks!

No rear speakers, do they have speakers behind you at a concert? If you propperly power your front speakers you are not gonna notice the rears. Most peopel have 6x9" behind them that put out a good amount of sound, though with a sub and a amp on your front speakers you will not notice they are gone. Just pull your rear speaks so the bass can get into the cabin easier.

Get a nice 75x2 amp for your front stage, the MTX pro amps are a steal on Ebay.

Under 200 check out the old Infinity basslink system, 10" sub and 200 RMS.

THe new Basslink is like 250 and looks to be a good deal.

I second the Kenwood Excelon Idea they have many usefull features and a great EQ.

THat 500/1 is gonna run you twice your budget for subs and amp, you need a box and probbaly $40 on power wire and I just dont see it happening.

Check the classifieds here a lot and you might find amp sub combo for $200.
