Rear Fill

Hi all

I have an 05 acura tsx, obviously i am looking at upgrading my components.

I have an alpine mrv-f340 amp, 4x55

The stock setup of the car is 8 speakers, 2 tweets 4 6.5 mid's and 2 6x9 woofers, I am looking for advice on a couple of things, first of all rear fill. I heard people talk about not upgrading the speakers in the back and spending the money on the components. So what exactly would i do with the back speakers? Just disconnect them? It was mentioned that i could get some adapters and put 6.5 in the back and tune that channel of my amp to lowpass, kinda get some bass out of it. What do you think?

I am goiing to disconnect the stock amp, and use the stock head unit.

I am also kind torn on the kind of components to get, and i am aware that there are a variety of brands and everyone has there preference's. Some I am considering.

IMO you only need rear fill if you carry rear seat passengers on a pretty steady basis and want them to be able to still hear the music fairly well while it is down to a conversation level (where the music is mainly there for background music so you can talk over it).

If you absolutely must run rear fill, don't spend any more than $50 or $75 on them, and it is perfectly fine to run them off the HU's internal amp (and fade to the front some). But frankly, I haven't missed my rear fill in 5+ years of not having anything back there.

As for comps; all those are good choices. There are many other good brands as well (MB Quart, OZ Audio, Rainbow, Arc Audio, yada yada yada) if you want more options aswell. How much are you lookin' to spend?

the budget...

I would like to keep it about 200 bucks.

I have a guy offering cdt-cd62's for 175 shipped

i know djdillion offers the ef61's for 200

also I would like to keep the car in stock disposition, i/e no kicks, no box in trunk.

I will mount the amp under the rear decklid

For that price range, contact Tplaya07 on here about OZ Audio Vectors and the DLS that are in that price range. Both are some of the best in their price range.

Ok i sent him a pm regarding thos speakers.

Do you think i will be lacking in bass considering I dont have the option for a sub?

6.5's......just make a baffle to mount them in the 6x9 openings. Get something like the RE mids or these TangBands: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=264-832 and you should have decent bass output from them. Not mindblowing mind you....but enough to let you know they are there. Or, if you really wanted to try to squeeze, you could try to figure out a way to mount 8's. But that would be more work.

the stock 6x9's already are supposed to be subs. My friend has a tsx and they didnt sound too bad i thought.
