Rear deck lifting

Hey everyone, i have a 2003 cavalier sedan with 2 12s in the trunk. my problem is that the rear deck is lifting every time the subs hit. Any ideas ?

one more question.. the area the deck is lifting is where the factory speakers were, and they were covered totally with carpet. should i remove that carpet to port from the trunk or no? any way to do it without it lookin like total crap?

Just grab some speaker grills and put them over the holes.

My rear deck flexes like an animal...i just threw in some padding back there and stopped bass from directly hitting it, still shakes plenty but doesn't make as much noise doin it

deaden it, and threw some screw's in it to hold it down.

self tappers or nuts/bolts and use fender washers...

Is the whole deck actually lifting or just where the carpet covers the holes?

deadening won't just solve the issue. you need to brace the rear panel down to the metal.

the plastic panel on my civic flexes like a mother and slaps the shit out of my rear window. for be to help reduce the noise i had to stuff a towel into the hump of the third brake light to pinch it down and stop it from lifting.

it lifts where the factory speakers used to be, under carpet yes....the rest of it lifts a little but not bad. Mainly where the factory holes are.

you could seal the speaker holes with plexiglass/MDF and liquid nails/silicone then deaden all of it.
