Rear camera hook up

not sure how to hook this up. The camera has a 12' cable with a yellow RCA and a black and red wires. The Kenwood DDX492 has a purple wire that sais rear camera. The cable does not reach the kenwood so I feel like just skipping the purple and tapping into the reverse light bulb power and a ground. Would Thai work??? Or just i connect to the purple wire?

Purple wire tells the unit that the cars in reverse and to flip the screen to back up mode.

So tie the red from the camera, the power from my reverse light and the purple? A 3 wire tie?
