Really good 1000 watt + bang for the buck amps?

I will never buy another Hifonics or PowerAcoustik product.
The DEI Viper amps used to be priced right, I'm not sure what they're going for now.

What is so bad about the Hifonics? Most of what I read here was upbeat.

I was formerly a big Directed fan (Orion), but lately they have been producing some crappy products. I had to send my 1200D in twice in a period of 2 years. I only ran it at 2 ohms most of the time. Now I have one of their HCCA D2400's that I have yet to hook up, and I am still waiting on another D2400 for my last 1200D that blew out. Warranties are nice to have, but it is a true pain in the *** to sit and wait for them to fix your stuff. My expected ETA for my D2400 is Mid-May!!!WTF? I sent the amp in NOVEMBER of 06.

Been going downhill the past few years. Their XX lines should still be "ok" though.

As for Directed/DEI yeah I must agree some of their products were crap. My amp is going on 3yrs now, and I could barley get the thing warm @2.66 ohm. I guess as stated earlier, I got one of the bulletproof ones. I didnt have much luck with a viper 1200 I had once though, **** thing burnt to a crisp the second I hooked it up.

if you can score an old one, a DEI1100d will do about 1kw for like $150.

didn't read any other posts after this one req made. I had one of those amps whenever he did and it really was a nice amp for the money. Kind of wish I still had it. Very nice bang for the buck amp, IMO a lot better than the A2400DB I had.

edit: if I remember corretly we had the same sub/amp combo for a short while =p.

Seems like when I first came to the forum a lot of guys were getting the old Lanzars. Lanzar 1200D? They don't make those anymore, either.

Anyone complaining about quality going downhill... the reason has already been answered in this thread. People want to buy 1500 watts for 200 dollars, something has to give... be it support, quality, etc.

FYI ...it's my understanding that the Viper line is discontinued... so, any product you see is "until supplies last". Viper was a directed high end line... now, Precision power is there high end line. Orion is middle. Directed is bottom tier.

Wow hard to believe it would take that long to get your amp back from the manufacturer on a warranty repair.. Talk about sucky service....

I would never have considered viper DEI's "high end" on the guts of the 1100D, 1200D, and 1500D are identical. As for the list you put of what stands were, thats not exactly fact. It is however an opinion. Whats what is different for each person and the setup its to be used in.

Where does Kicker and Hifonics rate? Any other good ones in the $300-$450 range?

Visonik V4000XD amps same as MA Audio HK4000d amps I have used Visonik 4000d amps for a few years both show and daily. The daily amp never got hot or cut out or anything. It made 2 Audiobahn Immortal subs pound. The ones in my van kept going no problems. I would pound on them at shows non stop for an hour and still pull good numbers. NEVER got hot... internal fan. It just so happens you can buy them in classifieds section for $399 each
