I have a 1985 single cab and I want a single 12" sub but only have 7 inches of bottom mounting depth with the seat all the way back. from what I've read I like the Alpine SWR 12 but will it fit in the room I'm working with and sound good? http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductReview.aspx?ProductID=14954 If not what do yall think about the JL audio 13W1 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=15652

vs the JL 12W1? http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17414 I'm open to any suggestions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

after I figure out which sub to get ( don't really want to spend more than $150 ) I'll have quite a few more questions on amps and a box lol

Thanks

I would choose the Type R over the JL. I have a friend that uses the R's and they work very well. Man that truck you can easily run a single 12 ported, I have built them before and they work very well.

Me and my dad are gonna build the box, I was planning on a sealed box, are ported boxes harder to build? If you have any pics or measurements on the ones you built I'd appreciate the help.

No pics, I built those years ago before digital cameras, I may have some still photos saved in storage. Do you plan on using the entire width of the truck, You will need the whole width for a ported box. Yes ported box's take some know how to build and tune correctly. If you post your max box size you will get some help here.

uh isnt the type r's mounting depth like 7.5 inches?? if you only have 7" to work with then you need to get a woofer with 4.5" mounting depth at most. 1.5" for wood thickness and an inch chearance behind the woofer.

They are that deep? He may have to choose the Type S, or another brand

Thats what I was wondering if it would fit it probably would with my seat all the way up but I don't want to do that. I'll look into the type S but this one don't look bad either http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17414 and it only needs a 5.09" mounting depth.
