i am making 2 seperate boxes, one for each of my RE8s. they are gonna be .45 cu ft each enclosure. i need to know how to port these. anyone have ideas. the boxes will be like these:

i have a 92 300ZX 2+2, so the boxes are smaller than the ones seen there. i've asked about this before but too many people were stuck on how cool the boxes were and the specs of my car. all i really wanted to know was how to port the boxes. im a newb to porting so i dnt know how long the port has to be. i was thinking about going with a slot, but if it is more difficult, then i'll go with the tube, so let me know which one is the best option. please stay on topic this time. i really need this to work.

One question about those boxes...

Are they stuffed with cotton [or atleast thats what it looks like], with the speakers in it? How does this work? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

thanks u guys, especially dupuis for makin it easy. i really needed that since i've heard the awesome performance of these little monsters when theyre ported...... yea.

Hey bboybrown, how would the fil in the enclusures work? Does it act as some kind of dampening?

BTW, let me know how it goes with the RE8z //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

poly fill is another way to add the extra "sound quality" to your box. it eliminates free-standing air waves. it's not as loud with it in there, but it helps with the sound quality.

i heard it makes the box sound bigger....

Your points are right, but with .45 for each RE8 ported, he does not need to have it in there. The box is close enough to the right size for that sub. IMO, he will get the best result without it if it's done right.

i've also purchased an amp for these two subs. i gotta Profile AP600. it's supposed to be the remake of the CA series. they look the same except for it now has MOSFET. does anyone have experience with these amps or with previous models? i need to know if it will be efficient enough. i'll be bridging the 2 channels to get a 400 X 1 @ 4Ohms. i'm positive that the written portion of these specs would be perfect for the subs, but i'm not sure how efficeint these amps are. i hear a lot of mixed feelings about these amps....

Polyfill actualy makes the subwoofer think the box is bigger by slowing the waves down thus making it more effeciant thus making it louder
