elcipse aluminum's are very nice subwoofers indeed. RE is also a very good choice. you really cant go wrong with either

btw, what amp will you be using for power?

welp....i had some 87121 and still actually have one....they are awsome subs, we beat them to hell and they gave in about 2 or 3 years later. good subs IMO and its fixable what happened. (cone sepereated from surround.) go eclipse, they will bang in ur little acura.

i have heard both an eclipse sub (7544) not the one that you mentioned, and an RE SE sub, in the same enclosures, with about 600 watts going to each.

in a 1.8 cuft sealed, the RE SE murders that eclipse sub, as far as spl, but the eclipse is a tad more punchy, which gives for better SQ

in a 1..0 cu ft sealed, the eclipse sounded better with the higher bass freq's, but the RE SE got louder, and lower than the eclipse.

in a 1.5 CU FT enclosure tuned to 41HZ (i have no clue why it was so high, but we tested it anyway) the Eclipse sounded louder to the ear (not by much) and got lower (once again, not by much) than the SE.

so it depends on what box you are going to have with it, and what kind of deal you can get with it,.

i like the se because it had more power handiling, and more movement.

once again, the eclipse i tested was a 7544 hybrid series..... and an RE SE

Well, I don't mind gettin hit on, doesn't bother me one bit. It's actually pretty amusing if you ask me lol. And I put supraCHICA79 in my name cuz thats the name I have on every forum I belong to and my email and screen name (feel free to shoot me an IM).

I'm not sure what I'm going to power these with yet. I'm going to get the sub first and then get an amp to match it so that I'm not limited on what sub I choose. I haven't thought of the box yet, I'll probably have to have it custom made because when it comes to building stuff, I'm not the greatest on my own haha.

I know alot about DJ audio because I used to dj until I just happened to lose time and interest in it. When it comes to car audio, I know the basics. What companies are good and what companies to stay away from. But beyond that, I think it's going to be alot of trial and error with me and finding the system that best suits me.

I'm going to be building a system piece by piece because to be frankly honest, I have a job that pays for sh!t haha. I'm starting with my head unit, which will either be a Clarion DXZ855MP, Clarion DXZ945MP, or an eclipse model of some sort, still not sure about that, but leaning towards the 855. then next to my components which are looking like the MB Quart PCE216 (although I've heard nothing but great reviews about the RE xxx 6.5in. components) so again, a little shaky on that decision as well.

My subs and sub amp will be the last of my purchases which I don't see happening til the summer at best but I want to know what I'm getting because if a good deal comes up, I'll be able to jump on it lol. I really jsut want to have an idea of what I'm going to get well in advance again, if a good deal comes up.

I haven't had any experience with the SE, but I have heard the eclipse and was very impressed. The output was not as much as other drivers I've dealt with, but I would say it's enough to please most people. If it's not, it's easy to add a second driver down the road and drop the load on the amp in half which means you generally can keep the same amp provided you think of that possibility ahead of time.

As far as the SE though...I've heard many people say the SX has good SQ, and well, it doesn't IMHO. My brother is running one and I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the quality of sound, even though it gets quite loud. So, I'd be a little weary of the SQ on the SE even though it's said to be better than the sx...I think a lot of people on here are still caught up on RE being the best in every aspect, but take some opinons (including mine) with a grain of salt. If you've heard the eclipse and like the sound, snatch it up.

I am really and always have been leaning towards the Eclipse but I've heard so many rave reviews about the RE's that I had to take a stab at them. Also, they tend to be a bit cheaper than the Eclispe but I think since I know that I like eclipse, then in the end, that's what I will be most happy with. Thewn again, nothing, even after I get the sub, is set in stone, and I won't be chained to this system forever so thats always a good thing.

yea its kinda funny, i once pretended to be a girl in this forum, the attitude in pples replys changed a heckuvalot, they started to be all friendly, callin me flakkita and stuff.

If you want bang for your buck, go RE, Eclipse can't even compare to RE in subwoofer standards. You can't go wrong with RE.
