RE Vs. Eclipse-Which is better?

Hey guys. I'm new hear and new to the car audio world. I just got my 97 acura 2.2cl a couiple weeks ago and am already planning what I want to do with the sound system in it.

I have heard alot of great things about RE subs. Unfortunetly, I have never heard one in person so I have to kinda go off what everyone else says about them. On the other hand, I have heard and love the eclipse subs.

I want to get a system that will work well with jsut about every kind of music. I listen to every kind of music so I need a system that will be able to rock during any song and still sound clean. I listen to my music pretty loud, but not ear bleeding loud lol.

Right now, I'm looking at getting 1 sub, mainly because I can not afford and really don't think I need 2 subs. So, my question is if I got one sub, which should I go with out of these 3-

Eclipse SW7124 12"

RE SE 12"

and I was wondering if there's a big difference between the 12" and the 15" SE

Also, since you guys have somewhat of an idea of what I need this sub for, should I possibly go with the RE SX instead? Remember, I'm looking for sound quality, not necessarily immense amount of volume.

Just saw an eclipse 12in 88120.4 for sale, has anyone had experience with those subs? The guy wants $120 per sub and they're rated at 500w rms and 1000w peak. I remember listening to an eclipse sub a few years ago at tweeter and really loved them, thats why I wanted one now but idk which one I listened to way back when so it could have been this one? For the rpice, seems like a great deal, but is the sub good?

Any other comments on the other choices I listed?

i say buy it becuz i've heard them in a q45 sealed and it sounded real good...and i say buy it becuz it sounds like a good deal too

well, imo the SE's are great drivers, i've owned about 8 of them in various sizes and they were all great subs, i'd go for a 15 if you can get the cash, i've never heard much of eclipse's subs so i can't really compare, but i'll stand by the SE //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you liked the sound of the Eclipse sub then get the Eclipse. You are better off in getting something that you have heard and know you like versus buying a driver that someone else says sounds better. Eclipse makes some pretty nice subs as do re but it's better to go with a sub you've heard.

Eclipses are great subs as are RE but if you like it get it. $120 is a great price for that sub i got one of mine for $65 so go buy it now.

Eclipse wins on this one. Only cuz you have heard it before. It's hard to buy a sub you have never heard.

Either way you will be happy. The SE is an amazing driver also.

the deal for the eclipse sub for 120 is gone, guy sold the subs.

I haven't heard any eclipse subs for a few years so I really am not sure what they sound like now and I don't know of anywhere I can go anymore to hear them. So that's why I'm asking you guys, paticularly the ones who have heard both the eclipse's n the RE SE's to tell me which one would cater better to my needs, which is the better price for substance.
