RE SX 18s - how much power ?

I've got a pair of RE SX 18's with D2 coils made in 2004, and I'm looking for an amp. The box will be about 15 cubic feet and will be ported.

I've got an amp that will do 1200 at 2ohms (JBL 1200.1) but I want to give these things more power. A friend of mine says they should handle more like 4kw.

just wondering if anyone has any experience with them and can recommend an amp ?

they need 1000rms each, 2000 to 2500rms at 2 ohm, they will not handle more then 1250 each

4000 watts each? Go ahead and ask David for a recone if you plan on sending them that much. They are 1000 watts rms, no point in really sending them much more that.

My friend Eric said they should handle about 2kw each with music without any problem. He owned a pair of older XXXs and I'm just going by his word.

Budget for an amp is around $500 maybe $600

lulz, i've got 5kw on mine....they get loud, but don't like long periods of 30hz music and get stinky. But i've done 153.7 at 32 hz with them.
