RE sx 15" vs. Alpine type r '05 15"

I am trying decide on getting the 2 Alpine type r 15('05 model) or 2 RE sx 15's in the group buy. Only $7 difference between the subs. I will be running 2500wrms to the sx's, and 1500-2000wrms to the Alpine's. At first they will be in sealed but will be going ported with specs tuned to 32-35hz.

Which will get the loudest but yet still retain Sq? I have heard the alpines do have good Sq, but the Sx's don't. I would imagine with the extra wattage the Sx will come out on top for output, but probably wrong.(with of course properly built enclosures for each)

I am just wandering how they will compare to each other with someone having experience with both.

I doubt it. It's ca.com's new tradition to compare alpine type R to Y sub.

Last week was RE SE, this week is SX, next week is XXX.

c0la, they're two different animal. Pick what type of system you want and go from there.

Actually I searched before asking. I am comparing and then making my purchase.

Thanx bigbangtheory for an actual helpful comment.

Personally, I'd take the SX's without question. Haven't had a lot of experience with the new type-R's, but I think the comparison is getting bit out of hand with it to other drivers. The SX is a higher quality sub IMO.

Being the procrastinator that I am, I would expect the sealed box to be there for months while you get around to building the ported one. You really can't go wrong with either, but the SX has (IMO) a better build quality and will take to sealed better.

HOWEVER, you do have another option. The IA LI 15, which is about the same price. I currently run them. They almost have the SQ of a dedicated SQ woofer, and get just as loud, if not louder, than both RE SX 15s and Alpine Type R 15s.

how can you make the claim that they are louder?

We have done the testing... type R is a better daily driver than the SX by far.

x2. I have the 187's and they jus pound and sound dandy too
Not to be an arse... but honestly, how does that relate to this thread?

"Pound and sound dandy" tells me nothing... and the woofers you have aren't in question... and I doubt you have done tests with others to find out if they pound the hardest, and sound the dandiest.

Just givin ya a perspective //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

He's making a recommendation, besides the choices given.

I'm sure Tobias has never done this with the Type R's.
