RE Sub Issues, HELP Plz!!

Aight heres the situation.

I have a 15" RE SX, powered by a Hifonics BX1000D. So this one day i open my trunk to check out my sub, and i notice that it has this rattling sound. I mean even when its at like 4 Volume, which is nothing, i can still hear this rattling. As I turn up the volume, the rattling dies out, but thats just cuz it's being drowned out by the bass. Also theres a tear in the surround, its a very clean cut at the edge of near the edge. SO i dont know maybe it could just be that rip. When you pull it back you can definitely see the interior, but its a small cut, about 1". So how do you fix that, and whats with the rattling?

put some silicon on that rip, for the rattling i dunno, tinsel slap?

my friend said it sounds like one of the wires is caught inside, but i doubt it,

and wut kinda silicon?

by 'wires inside' do you mean coil? Check the tinsel leads and make sure there not hitting the basket

the little wires on the basket connetcing the vc's to the terminals where you wire it up. tinsel slap is those little leads, "slapping" (hence the term "tinsel slap") the basket. definately not good as it can snap/weaken the tinsel lead of a period of time.

you have a coil rubbing. thats not a guess, i know this for a fact because one of my sx 15s was doing it. if you will push around on different parts of the cone surround, youll find a way to make it stop, but youre gonna have to recone it before long.

Oh well, i wish you the best.. use silicone on the surround
