RE SE12 help

I'm running a SE12 in a ported box (as per their site, 2.0 @ 33hz). It's powered by a PG x600.1 and I have PG RSD's in the front. I have the sub amp crossed at about 80hz and my fronts the same. The problem is that the sub output seems to be nonexistent above 50hz or so, leaving out bass notes in certain songs. For example the bass line in Jagged Edge's "Promise" is very faint with this setup.

My question is...is this normal for an SE12? Just to make sure it wasn't a settings issue I swapped out my sub with an cheap ED 13kv.2 and it definitely sounded more like what I'm use to.

I have that sub in a 2ft^3 ported box at 32Hz and yeah my rolloff is ridiculous. It hits those low lows pretty nice, but everything in the bass range of most music is non existent.

You may want to go with a smaller box tuned to a higher frequency.

That doesn't make sense, at 50hz you should be putting out a LOT of bass, the slope for a 33hz tuned box isnt even CLOSE to being that bad, at most you will be 1db down.

I suspect your tuning isn't right, re check your LPF.

Yes, at 50hz and under it's great, but above that it's pretty minimal. My LPF should be about right since I swapped it out with another sub and the missing notes come right back. My box was made by Mr. Marv so it should be tuned right. It's just a bit annoying when you're listening to the bass line and the lower notes hit hard but some notes you can barely hear.

I read a post on another forum claiming the RE SE's don't like to be crossed over 50hz and another saying the same about the XXX's rolloff. Maybe it's a RE thing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I agree with the RE thing. I have a 2005 XXX 15" and now have 2 new 15" SE's. And they are all the same, the lower the x-over setting the better they do. My XXX off of 1200 watts absolutely loved a 50hz LPF setting, I have my SE's set at 63hz and its about right.
